The management of Ekiti State University (EKSU) has denied allegations that the university has imposed an additional fee of #49,000.00 on its students.
The trending online report, titled “Digital Training Isonu #SAY NO TO EXTORTION,” accuses the university of extortion
However, EKSU Management has categorically stated that it is not aware of any such illegal fee and has initiated an investigation to determine the truth behind these allegations.
EKSU in a statement issued by Bode Olofinmuagun, Director of Information & Corporate Affairs
“The attention of the Management of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) has been drawn to a trending online report that the university has imposed additional fee of #49,000.00 on its students.”
“The trending news tagged “Digital Training Isonu #SAY NO TO EXTORTION” is alleging the University Management of extortion.”
“It is to be clarified that the EKSU Management is not aware of the so called illegal fee and has commenced investigation to get to the root of the matter. “
“For the sake of emphasis, the illegal fee is not one of the requirements for the ongoing revalidation of studentship exercise. As such, no student should pay the unauthorized fee.”
”Students of the university should disregard the fake news and go about their normal academic activities.”
“Students and the general public are, through this medium, assured that the perpetrators of the fake news would face appropriate disciplinary action immediately investigation is concluded.”
Furthermore, EKSU Management wants to assure both students and the general public that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against those responsible for spreading this fake news once the investigation is concluded.
