Aloy Ejimakor, Nnamdi Kanu’s special counsel, asserted that the pro-Biafra agitator’s continued detention is related to tribal politics.

Nnamdi Kanu is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Tribal politics, according to Ejimakor, would split Nigeria in two.

“A politics that’s built on clan and ethnicity is doomed to break a country apart,” stated Ejimakor in a tweet.

“The continuing detention of #MNK is not justified by the law, but rather by the same tribal politics that will undoubtedly split Nigeria sooner rather than later. You cannot have it all. Never!”

Since being detained in Kenya and sent back to Nigeria, Kanu had not been released.

He was apprehended because of his calls for the secession of Biafra and the dissolution of Nigeria.
