Nigerian Lawmaker, Shehu Sani has praised United States effort for placing restriction on visa of specific individuals in Nigeria for undermining the democratic process.

Recall a statement by US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, had earlier stated that “The visa restrictions announced today are specific to certain individuals and are not directed at the Nigerian people or the Government of Nigeria.”

” The decision to impose visa restrictions reflects the commitment of the United States to support Nigerian aspirations to combat corruption and strengthen democracy and the rule of law.”

But, Shehu Sani described step as a welcome development noting that those working against the upcoming elections by their threats,hate speech,advocating or perpetrating violence to sabotage the election should be affected.

On Twitter, he wrote: “The US announcement of visa restrictions on Nigerians “undermining democracy” is a welcome development.”
