Olukayode Ariwoola, a justice of the supreme court, as been sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari as acting chief justice of Nigeria (CJN).
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the council chamber of the presidential villa in Abuja.
Ariwoola succeeds Ibrahim Muhammad, who resigned from the position earlier on Monday.
Among those present were Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation; Usman Baba, inspector-general of police (IGP), and Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation.
