The ongoing looting of Covid-19 palliative warehouses by the Nigerian people across the country has further exposed the huge disconnect between the government and the people.
The desperate poor Nigerians have continued to defy the the security agents by trooping to the venue of the manna.
The looting of Kwara State warehouse, Ìlọrin even turned bloody (the Ìlọrin videos are so gory that I cannot post them here). Some of the poor people who rushed to take their own share from the warehouse were shot dead.
The victims could be seen being carried away while their blood was dripping and creating tracks as they were being carried away from the place.
Another angle to the Ado-Ekiti looting is that, the people trooped in droves to Federal government silo, located along the Federal Polytechnic road. After many of them had taken the grains sealed in bags, some of them mistakenly took chemicals sealed in bags and mistook it for Garri or èlùbọ́.
It took the effort of the Nigerian Army before they could be chased away.
This ugly scenario paints a grim picture of the fact that there is hunger in the land. Why will the various state governments keep such plentiful food in the midst of the starving multitude of people?
