Abike Dabiri-Erewa Takes A Shot At The APC For Secluding Women From Its Edo APC Primary Committee

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman /chief executive officer (CEO) of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission ( NIDCOM), has expressed her displeasure to the composition of the primary election committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state.

Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State, was named chairman of the primary election committee after the party carried out screening exercise for its aspirants.

Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent governor of Edo, and two other aspirants were disqualified from contesting the primary election, while three other candidates were cleared.

Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who ran for the governorship position under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2016 election, is one of the aspirants given the nod to contest the primary of the APC.

He was cleared alongside Osaro Obazee, who contested a state assembly seat in 2019, and Pius Odubu, a ex deputy governor of the state.

The primary election is slated to hold on Monday.

In a tweet on Sunday, the APC chapter of Edo State announced the arrival of the seven-man primary committee.

“Members of the Edo State Primary Election Committee led by Hope Uzodimma have arrived Benin City ahead of tomorrow’s exercise,” the tweet read.

In her own reaction, Dabiri-Erewa expressed surprise over the non-inclusion of a woman on the panel.

“Na wa o. APC. Not a single woman ? Haba !!!” she tweeted.
