After serious failed trip to Lagos by Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, where he visited the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu for a second term coronation, indications are rife that the embattled governor has purchased a nomination form from the opposition People’s Democratic Parry (PDP).
The Governor, after several weeks of intense intrigues, sponsored and planted Mr. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen in the party, sensing a cul-de-sac in the APC.
For weeks now, after a previous show of bravado and issuance of menacing threats, Obaseki worn an unfitting garment of humility yesterday in Lagos, surprising even his followers.
Like one drenched in a July rain, the Governor, overwhelmed and feeling a looming sense of loss, has abandoned his state for days and embarked a country-wide begging of the same people he denigrated as “thieves” identified as Abuja politician.
To say that Obaseki lacks personal integrity is to repeat the obvious. More telling of this fact is the revelation that the Governor, relying on the help of some PDP chieftains is plotting a back-door entrance into the PDP.
The opposition party is reportedly deploying tactical delays and planning a waiver that would allow Obaseki to switch sides and pick its governorship form. It was learnt that the Governor may have completed the filling of the form as at the time of filing this report, in what seems like a forced matrimony occasioned by circumstances.
“A man who has lost face in his party after governing badly and without character, and a hollow, hungry party seeking access to the state treasury to resuscitate itself”, People criticized.
