The Katsina state government has confirmed nine new cases of COVID-19 in the state.
Recall that the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, announced on Saturday that Nigeria had registered 87 new cases of coronavirus.
The NCDC had indicated in its tweet that it had recorded 33 in Lagos, 18 in Borno, 12 in Osun, 9 in Katsina, 4 in Kano, 4 in Ekiti, 3 in Edo, 3 in Bauchi and 1 in Imo State.
Confirming the figure, state governor Aminu Bello Masari on his Twitter account said that the development was an indicator that the state needed to do more to fight the pandemic.
Masari therefore encouraged residents to stay at home, adding that the state had not released any COVID-19 patients.
“Having progressed in the past 48 hours without a new # COVID19 case, today’s report from @NCDC indicates that we have 9 new cases.
“It is indeed an indicator that we must do more to fight against this pandemic; government, public, health personnel / educators and security agencies.
“As of April 26, 2020, 30 were confirmed, 0 released and 1 dead.
“With community quarantine still in place, we encourage everyone to stay at home as to stop the spread.”
